My Approach to Astrology and Consultation
"As above, so below; as below, so above"– The Kybalion
My relationship with astrology is deeply rooted in understanding that macrocosm and microcosm are reflections of one another. My time among the Redwoods shaped my elemental language, expanding my awareness beyond the earth to the cosmos. Just as the Redwoods find strength and stability through their interconnected roots, celestial bodies maintain balance through their relationships. The same fundamental forces that shape our terrestrial world are mirrored in the stars, moon, sun, and planets, each influencing and holding one another in place. It is a symbolic and interpretive system that explores archetypal patterns, planetary cycles, and personal themes.
-
Planets and Luminaries – the key players in our charts, each representing different psychological drives, energies, and functions within the self.
-
Signs – how each planet expresses itself, shaping its style, motivations, and way of interacting with the world.
-
Houses – specific areas in our lives where planetary energies manifest, highlighting themes related to personal development, relationships, career, and more.
-
Aspects – the relationships between placements of the planets that may reveal dynamics of tension, ease, challenge, and transformation, offering insight into internal patterns and external experiences.
-
Transits and Progressions – the movement of planets (past, present, future) in relation to our natal charts which provide perspective on cycles of change, growth, and opportunities for reflection.
Astrology is inseparable from the natural world. The elements—earth, water, fire, air, and spirit—are the foundations of this practice, guiding our understanding of how we move through life in relation to the ourselves, other beings, and the world/universe. I believe every planet and every sign exists within each of us, offering a lens through which we can explore our inner dynamics. I invite clients to approach it with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to engage their own lived experience. My role is not to dictate meaning but to serve as a compassionate and humble guide in the journey of self-discovery and expansion.
My approach is deeply influenced by seeing planetary and sign influences as reflections of our inner voices—our supporters, protectors, and managers—each with distinct personalities, challenges, and roles in the myriad of areas of our lives. This extends beyond the personal, encompassing society, communal, and ancestral influences, and the patterns we carry forward. With a commitment to ongoing learning and growth, I hold space for evolution in both my practice and my understanding of the cosmos. Consultations are an invitation to explore astrology as a living, breathing conversation—one that fosters greater awareness, resilience, and alignment with the natural rhythms and seasons of life.
I believe in an open, non-dogmatic, and inclusive approach to astrology, grounded in fundamental principles but never fundamentalism. This belief is deeply rooted in my own experience of growing up in a prescriptive, dogmatic, and rigid religious organization. Having witnessed firsthand the limitations and harm as a result of strict ideology, I resist any form of astrology that imposes absolute truths, deterministic thinking, or fear-based interpretations. It is not a predictive science, nor does it determine fixed outcomes—rather, it fosters self-awareness, perspective, and deeper exploration of one’s unique makeup and spiritual questions. Instead, I view astrology as an expansive, evolving practice that honors individual agency, personal meaning-making, and multiple perspectives.
Western astrology, rooted in Hellenistic tradition, is the lens through which I practice. Additionally, I approach a natal chart using whole sign houses as the primary system. I integrate both traditional and modern planetary rulers, recognizing the wisdom in each perspective. Instead of believing that any of us are bound by fate, I see astrology as a profound tool for self-exploration, empowerment, and growth. There is no single astrology, no single correct way to interpret a chart, no universal house system, and no rigid framework of right or wrong, good or bad. Astrology is fluid, relational, and deeply personal, which is why different astrologers may interpret the same chart in different ways. Diversity is part of its richness.
I view a natal chart as both a compass and a mirror—offering potential direction while reflecting deeper truths. It is not a static blueprint but a dynamic system, rich with potential for compassion and transformation. My consultations are collaborative, inviting clients to engage with their own chart in a way that fosters curiosity, empowerment, and personal meaning-making.
